Portal Guardians - Demons and Angles Thai Stamps
Images of portal guardians are made on the front and the back of door or window panels and according to the Thai traditional belief, these images will help to guard the place or ward off harm from evil spirits. These guardians are usually depicted in the form of angles or threatening demons. Each period will have different ways of creating these guardians -- sculping, casting or drawing. These images have become artwork of high repute.

ทวารบาล - เทวดารักษาประตู

รูปภาพทวารบาลจัดทำขึ้นให้ปรากฎบนพื้นด้านหน้าและด้านหลังบานประตู บานหน้าต่าง ตามความเชื่อและคตินิยมที่ต้องการให้เฝ้าระวังอันตรายจากสิ่งชั่วร้าย มักนิยมจัดทำเป็นรูปเทวดาหรือรูปอสูรที่น่าสะพรึงกลัว ซึ่งในแต่ละสมัยจะจัดทำโดยวิธีการที่ต่างกันไป เป็นรูปปั้นบ้าง รูปแกะสลักบ้าง หรือรูปเขียนบ้าง จนกลายเป็นรูปแบบงานศิลปกรรมที่ควรค่าแก่การชื่นชม
